As more people rely on the internet for their
entertainment
needs, the demand for a seamless
online video
streaming
experience is growing. One way to enhance this experience is by using
chrome
extensions
, specifically a
chrome video capture extension
. This article explores one of the top-rated chrome extensions for online video streaming, the YouTube Popout Player, to help you get the most out of your online watching experience.
A Comprehensive Look at the Chrome Video Capture Extension
This video player extension holds a commendable aggregate rating of 3.48 out of 5. Despite some downbeat reviews, many users appreciate its outstanding features. It is considered by many users as an essential addition to their entertainment apps, improving their YouTube watching experience.
The Noteworthy Features
The chrome video capture extension stands out for its ability to 'popout' any YouTube video, even those embedded on other websites. This feature allows users to freely position and resize the video, offering a more personalized and convenient watching experience. In addition, the extension can remember and restore window position and size, loop videos, and reuse existing popouts when selecting another video.
User Feedback: The Good and the Not So Good
Many users have lauded the extension for its functionality. Paul Kendrick described it as a 'fantastic add-on,' while Nathan Miranda stated, 'it's what the standard YouTube Miniplayer should be.' Another user, Fabrice Denis, appreciated the extension's loop feature and its ability to remember window size and position.
However, some users voiced out areas that could be improved. For instance, one user suggested the removal of the window chrome for aesthetic reasons, and another recommended the addition of a 'sit on top' feature. These suggestions, while constructive, point out the extension's current limitations.
Furthermore, some users have found the extension lacking in its 'always on top' function, with James McGowan branding it as 'literally useless' without this feature. However, it's worth noting that when combined with Windows PowerToys 'Always On Top,' Ethan Dale described the extension as 'amazing.'
Is it Worth the Download?
Despite its shortcomings, the YouTube Popout Player is highly regarded among its users. Its features indeed provide a superior online video streaming experience, making it one of the best Chrome extensions for streaming service enthusiasts.
So, if you're looking for a way to improve your online engagement with entertainment content, this Chrome extension could be worth a try. Its high rating and positive user feedback are testaments to its valuable contribution to enhancing your video streaming experience.
30 Reviews For This Extension
Works great for me!
Terrible.
Surprisingly, works on chrome web store extension preview videos too & not just on normal websites. In the store Just Tap ▶ to open the native preview popup for videos, right-click the video title, then hit 'Open Video in Popout Player.' Beyond that, it does exactly what it promises — right-click any YouTube link and only the player opens in a clean headless window, no sidebar, no comments, no description. No bloat. To the 1-star reviewers complaining about no always-on-top, that's not this extension's problem to solve. Use windows PowerToys, AutoHotkey, or a dedicated pinning extension that handles it in two minutes. Don't penalize a focused tool for not being everything."
Works as advertised. It creates a popout non-Chrome window with just the video in it. For everyone wanting it to stay on top of other windows, this can be done on Windows with the Microsoft PowerToys suite. Among lots of helpful utilities, that has a key combination that lets the current active window stay on top of other windows, which essentially turns the popout player here into a picture-in-picture player as lots of people want. I'm sure similar utilities exist for Mac and Linux, but I don't know what they are called.
It's perfect. Opens YouTube player in a separate window, not picture-in-picture, but a separate window. Most importantly it's available from context menu so you do not need to open the video in a regular window first.
It's not Picture in Picture, but at least it is a pop out window. Such a bummer they had to ruin the player with their stupid updates.
oh my it just doing an pop up window amazing??
oh my it just doing an pop up window amazing??
Works great for what I needed. I do wish it was possible for it to stay above other windows, but this will do!
Perfect! Thanks!
w extension
trash. it just opens a mini tab and doesnt stay above other tabs
everything I wanted and more.. just wish there was a playback speed in the taskbar rather than going through options
working nicely
not working
Use this extension to pop the video out, and then use PowerToys' "always on top" to make sure the popped out video is always on top.
the whole point of a pop out is for it to stay on top of other programs. this doesnt.
I use this for audiobooks, podcasts and other long listenable videos. Makes it more convenient to watch and listen while doing some other work.
for some reason this was activating youtube's anti adblocker system. might just be me. also, you can right click a video twice and use a built in 'picture in picture' system that actually stays pinned to the top
just need to stay pinned to the top
Useless, it doesn't stay pinned to the top...
I use it to display subtitles, a feature that the picture-in-picture extension cannot do. If you want to keep it at the top, on Windows, try PowerToys.
You can use powertoys to pin the windows, and please add autoplay next video feature, thanks
Serves my purpose. What is important for me is the double-click to go to full screen. It works like a charm.
The idea is good, IF the video is only open by this extension, not double. Search the whole setting, no found set for that.
Does what it ways, but it lacks the option to make the pop-out window stay on top of other windows, which I presume is the reason most people would use this extension...
actually the best one of these i ever used
I used it some time before, it this it was picture in picture, now its popup and not in picture but in background when i change tabs.
Does what it says it does. Opens a popout window with only the video in it (please note it's a typical 'pop-out window' with only a title bar, no address bar or other browser functions and buttons).
not working
